Delivery Cranes and Google Quality Score
Kid: “How did I born, and become your son?”
Mom: “Well…. Your father and me got married, and god gave you us as a gift”
Kid: “But how did god come to your wedding? He’s supposed to be invisible?”
Mom: “Errrrr… a Delivery crane from heavens delivered you to us”
Kid: “But, how can such a small bird carry a baby?”
Mom: “Look honey, now there are things you don’t understand; it’s too complicated, you will know when you grow-up, now go to sleep”
Kid: “Mmmm… I think there’s something that you don’t tell me”
A SIMMILAR STORY
Marketer: “How does Google rank sponsored links?”
Google: “We take your maximum CPC bid, and our quality score and then work out your ad-rank”
Marketer: “But how do you decide the quality score?”
Google: “There are a number of factors that determine the Quality Score. We have a formula of putting those factors together and calculating the QS”
Marketer: “And that formula is?”
Google: “It’s a formula with variables and relationships. We can’t reveal the exact thing”
Marketer: “OK, so, how much weightage you give to my bid versus the weightage you give for the QS?”
Google: “Look honey, now there are things you don’t understand; it’s too complicated, you will know when you grow-up”
Just a random thought came to my mind while I was studying for renewing my Adwords Certification :-)
